Program Manager

About the Job Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a research laboratory located on the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. CCMB is part of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and conducts basic research into developmental, biochemical, and molecular biological aspects of human development with a special emphasis on craniofacial structures. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to assist a principal investigator in managing all phases of a large project grant and any subcontracts, providing leadership and direction for day‑to‑day project operations and administrative activities, and participating in the planning, design, and development of project protocols, data acquisition, management, and analysis. Key Responsibilities Assist the principal investigator with formulating research objectives, organizing, and scheduling activities to meet objectives. Plan and develop program objectives and content. Research and identify trends and needs and establish program directions accordingly. Assess quality of program operations. Modify existing program services or create new program offerings to maintain or enhance program standing. Develop curricula and course materials and coordinate faculty recruitment and involvement. Link program with other relevant departments on or off campus as necessary. Manage the delivery of services to targeted program participants or beneficiaries. Set and communicate program priorities and performance standards, and assess operations using these criteria. Plan and conduct quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate. Develop and maintain automated or manual systems and procedures to facilitate program operations. Evaluate and recommend statistical methods for data analysis, monitor, and interpret results of analysis. Develop and manage program budgets and recommend or make budgetary and resource allocations. Provide financial status reports as requested. Serve as a key resource for program information. Resolve problems or questions referred by program staff, senior university administrators, or professionals outside the university. Contribute to the design of research protocols. Evaluate, recommend, and implement procedures for data acquisition, management, and quality control. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and papers on study plans, progress, and results of research activities. Coordinate and/or link project‑specific operations with administrative and research functions on and off campus. Negotiate and oversee subcontracted services and vendor selection, authorize expenditures, monitor account reconciliation, prepare reports to funding agencies, and ensure adherence to regulatory and funding guidelines. Compensation The annual range for this position is $114,000 - $124,000. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree (combined experience/education as substitute). Minimum Experience: 3 years. Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional and supervisory experience in the area of program specialization.
