Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Vision insurance, paid time off, long term disability, tuition reimbursement Job Overview Registered Nuclear Medicine technologist needed to perform procedures in an outpatient setting. The technician must complete duties with minimal supervision and ensure accurate test results before patient release. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program. Must possess a current NJ State license. ARRT and/or NMTCB certification. BLS certification required. Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred. NMTCB Fusion Certification or ARRT R, CT, certification preferred. Essential Functions Abides by standards established by the hospital, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Accepts special assignments from supervisor and completes them on time. Assists the nuclear physician with implementation of special imaging procedures. Ensures all tests are performed properly and results are accurate prior to patient release. Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols and notifies the lead tech of any malfunctions promptly. Explains the procedure to the patient clearly, including wait times, and performs the procedure assuring maximum comfort to the patient; obtains best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques. Identifies patients (both inpatient and outpatient) per hospital SOP before starting any procedure. Performs all hot lab related functions such as receiving, using, and discarding radio-pharmaceuticals following vendor, departmental, and DEP rules and regulations strictly.
