Location: Hybrid, New England Region (primarily Lawrence, MA)

Position Summary

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure across corporate, retail, cloud, and data center environments. This role requires a highly skilled networking professional with deep expertise in routing, switching, security, wireless, SD-WAN, and data center technologies. The engineer will lead network initiatives, provide advanced troubleshooting support, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for enterprise network operations, including troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, root cause analysis, and integration activities.
• Design, implement, and support enterprise-wide network solutions, upgrades, and infrastructure changes with a strong focus on security.
• Configure and manage firewalls, security policies, trust zones, third-party connectivity, and related security initiatives.
• Partner with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and understand application workflows for new projects.
• Develop and communicate project implementation plans and technical solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend network enhancements based on industry best practices and business requirements.
• Conduct technical analysis and planning for deployment of evolving network technologies.
• Create technical designs, proposals, documentation, diagrams, implementation plans, and operational handoff materials.
• Lead network projects from planning through successful delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate activities with vendors and external partners.

Qualifications

• Combination of at least two of the following: STEM degree, industry certifications (CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, security certifications, cloud certifications), or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of network engineering experience within large, complex enterprise environments.
• Minimum of 4 years serving in a lead network design role.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting LAN, WAN, MAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, Wi-Fi, DNS/DHCP, QoS, internet, cloud, and data center environments.
• Strong expertise with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
• Deep understanding of Spanning Tree Protocol and Layer 2 technologies.
• Experience with VXLAN fabric architectures.
• Knowledge of MPLS label switching and MP-BGP routing.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior engineering staff.
• Strong understanding of modern data center networking and cloud networking architectures.
• Experience deploying and managing load balancers, remote access VPNs, and next-generation firewalls.
• Experience working within regulated environments and supporting compliance requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Layer 2 technologies including VLANs and Spanning Tree.
• Advanced Layer 3 routing and segmentation including VRF, MPLS L3VPN, OSPF, and BGP.
• Experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms.
• Experience with Aruba wireless environments.
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience with F5 load balancing technologies.
• Experience with Meraki SD-WAN solutions.
• Strong TCP/IP networking expertise.
• Ability to analyze network communications at the packet level.
• Experience supporting voice, video, and collaboration technologies, including QoS, SIP, SBCs, and AV protocols.
• Understanding of network segmentation and hierarchical design principles.
• Familiarity with cloud security platforms, SASE architectures, Prisma, Zscaler, and related technologies.
