This is a full-time, on-site role for a Police Officer located in Fort Mill, SC. As a Police Officer with FMPD, you will be entrusted with the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws. Key Responsibilities Patrol Fort Mill to detect, deter, and respond to crime and traffic violations. Answer calls for service, including but not limited to: domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, lost or missing persons, traffic collisions, motorist assists. Conduct preliminary investigations: interviewing witnesses, victims, suspects; collecting information and evidence; securing scenes. Apprehend, arrest, and process offenders; execute warrants and subpoenas. Support fellow officers and emergency response personnel as needed. Provide traffic control and direction; assist motorists. Prepare accurate and timely reports: incident, accident, arrest, etc. Maintain patrol vehicle, uniform, and equipment to department standards. Testify in court when required. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of FMPD’s mission. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise What we Expect from You (Qualifications) Minimum: high school diploma or equivalent; specialized law enforcement training is preferred. Experience: approximately 1-2 years of relevant field work, internship/apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education/training. Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain any required local/state certifications. Must meet the current requirements of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Excellent communicator; strong problem-solving skills; resilient and composed under pressure. Physical and Work Requirements Work involves both indoor & outdoor duties, exposure to all weather conditions. Physical tasks include walking, running, bending, lifting (light to heavy), restraining persons when necessary. Use of a variety of law enforcement tools and equipment.
