4-H Camp Waterfront Director - Riverhead, NY

Waterfront Coordinator – DPF 4‑H Camp Located in Riverhead, New York, this full‑time exempt position oversees all waterfront and swimming activities for the residential summer camp. Responsibilities Lead the waterfront program: supervise swimming, canoeing, boating, kayaking, fishing, and associated non‑water activities. Apply American Red Cross water safety requirements and coordinate lifeguard assignments. Conduct orientation, assess swimmer levels, and assign campers to appropriate swim categories. Ensure daily monitoring of beachfront, water quality, and equipment maintenance. Assist and train staff on waterfront procedures and equipment during pre‑camp orientation. Coordinate with Camp Director, Coordinators, and Counselors to incorporate waterfront activities into the overall camp curriculum. Maintain camp health and safety standards, keep emergency equipment compliant with NewYork State regulations, and report incidents promptly. Record daily attendance and maintain instructional records (lesson plans, inventories). Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and prospective marketing of Extension programs. Qualifications Minimum 21years of age. At least two years of lifeguarding experience. Lifeguard Supervision and Management Certification (or willingness to obtain). Current CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor certifications. Experience in waterfront activity management. Ability to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and reside on‑site during camp sessions. Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated staff scheduling and supervision ability. Experience working with children and young adults outdoors. Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control. Position Details Exempt full‑time, 100% FTE.
