General Manager

Bar Ambra is a vibrant Italian cocktail bar and restaurant located within Hyatt Union Square New York, where warm hospitality, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and seasonal Italian cuisine come together to create a welcoming neighborhood destination. We are seeking an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead our team and help shape the continued growth of our restaurant.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who leads by example, inspires their team, and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences. As General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations, ensuring seamless service while cultivating a positive, accountable, and hospitality-driven culture. You will be responsible for developing and mentoring your team, maintaining high service standards, managing labor and operating costs, driving financial performance, and working closely with the culinary team to execute a consistent and memorable dining experience. This role also requires a leader who is comfortable overseeing private dining and special events, ensuring flawless execution from planning through service while maintaining the highest level of hospitality for every guest.

Because Bar Ambra operates within Hyatt Union Square New York, this role also requires a leader who is comfortable collaborating with hotel leadership and ownership. The General Manager will serve as the primary liaison between the restaurant and hotel teams, working closely with upper management to ensure operational alignment, maintain brand standards, and foster a strong partnership between both organizations. The ideal candidate understands how to navigate multiple stakeholders while confidently advocating for both the guest and the restaurant team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in high-volume, full-service restaurants and possess strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Experience with private events is essential, as is proficiency with Toast POS and the ability to leverage the platform to support daily operations, reporting, menu management, and an exceptional guest experience. Knowledge of Italian cuisine, wine, and craft cocktails is a plus.
