Job Description Miami University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Music Education to join an evolving music program committed to excellence in teaching, collaborating, and innovation. The successful candidate will: Teach undergraduate music education courses as assigned, including foundational coursework such as Introduction to Music Education and instrumental method courses. Additional courses outside of the area of music education may be assigned based on departmental priorities and the candidate’s expertise and interests. Supervise student teachers and coordinate clinical experiences in public school settings. Advise undergraduate students and contribute to a supportive learning environment. Serve as faculty advisor for the Collegiate NAfME chapter. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. About the Program Miami University’s music program is undergoing exciting growth, including the launch of a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry with tracks in Music Production and Music Business. The theory curriculum plays a vital role in supporting both traditional and emerging pathways for students. Minimum Qualifications Master of Music or Master of Music Education by date of appointment. Doctorate in Music Education (ABD candidates will be considered). Demonstrated success teaching music education at the collegiate level. Experience with curriculum development or program coordination. A student-centered approach to teaching and mentoring. Minimum of three years of successful K–12 instrumental teaching experience.
