Pay: $23.97–$30.60/hourJob Description: TEMPO Employment Services is seeking a Plant Utility Technician to join a local food manufacturing facility in Mars Hill. This position supports the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of facility water, gas, air, steam, and related utility systems.The Plant Utility Technician will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, assist with installations and startups, and support continuous improvement efforts.Responsibilities:Assist with the safe operation and maintenance of water, gas, air, steam, and utility systemsPerform preventive and corrective maintenance as directedAssist experienced maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and maintenance projectsTroubleshoot utility and mechanical systemsAssist with equipment installation, adjustments, and startupsMaintain accurate maintenance and regulatory recordsUse computerized maintenance systems to document work and equipment informationParticipate in reliability and root-cause analysis activitiesAssist with maintaining spare parts and equipment inventoriesFollow established maintenance procedures and quality standardsFollow all safety, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirementsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentCommunicate effectively with maintenance, operations, and other team membersPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:High school diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree, two-year technical certificate, or equivalent technical experience preferredAt least 1 year of industrial experience preferred, particularly with steam, refrigeration, or utility systemsBoiler Operator Assistant license or boiler/ammonia-related certification preferred, but not requiredAbility to read and understand mechanical, piping, and electrical schematics preferredExperience with computerized maintenance systems preferredStrong mechanical and technical aptitudeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively with team members at all levelsSelf-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilitiesAbility to occasionally lift and move up to 60 poundsAbility to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as neededAbility to work in a noisy environment with temperatures ranging from hot to coldMust be available to work weekends and holidays as neededNo visa sponsorship is available for this positionThis position requires completion of a pre-employment background check.This is a great opportunity for someone with industrial, mechanical, maintenance, or utility experience looking to build their skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
