Project Accountant - Temporary

Job Overview The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process, including categorizing, recording, analyzing, and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. The role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle. Responsibilities Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly project billings per contract requirements. Perform financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget. Process project accounts payable and subcontracts payable. Manage vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention, and W-9s. Produce and analyze job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports. Assist in preparation of status reports and maintain accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs. Identify and resolve basic and more complex project‑related accounting issues in a timely manner. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred. Strong accounting knowledge. Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Strong ability to prioritize and multi‑task. Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. required. Pay Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Washington, this ranges from $39.00–$41.00 hourly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
