Location: Reston, VA Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI [Required] w/ CI Poly Job Type: Full-Time Target Salary Range*: $150,000 - $180,000 *This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary Position Overview Amatriot is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to support the National Programs Intelligence Systems & Application Operating Unit. The SITE III ITS Task Order effort is charged with the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of a portfolio of mission applications and services for the Defense Intelligence Agency. The primary work location is Riverdale, MD. Support from other customer locations in the National Capital Region is possible, but the candidate would most likely report to the Riverdale, MD location until alternate work locations can be arranged. The candidate requires previous experience with Linux system administration for applications in a classified environment. System administration tasking will include installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, virtual servers, and application software upgrades. Some minor Windows system administration may be needed, but it will not be the primary function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Operations and Maintenance tasks, maintaining operational baselines, and supporting application O&M activities including patching, application monitoring, and customer support. When necessary, the candidate will troubleshoot network and application performance issues and recommend appropriate action. The candidate will work closely with project team members, product subject matter experts, end users, and software engineers to ensure applications remain operational by monitoring application performance, providing technical assistance, and consulting with users. Additional duties include supporting database administrators, developing tools to assist in systems management, ensuring application documentation is maintained, and performing daily application backups. Key Responsibilities Server Administration and Management Oversee and manage both virtual and physical servers for enterprise, regional, and local systems. Install, configure, document, maintain, and support server environments hosting mission-critical applications and infrastructure services. Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, virtual servers, and application software upgrades. Provide minor Windows system administration support as needed. System Configuration and Software Support Install and configure operating systems, database software, including Oracle, and application software across both physical and virtual servers. Ensure system software is properly integrated and supports enterprise applications. Support application software upgrades. Develop tools to assist in the management of systems. Operations and Maintenance Support Perform Operations and Maintenance tasks. Maintain operational baselines. Support application O&M activities, including patching, application monitoring, and customer support. Perform daily application backups. Performance Optimization and Resource Management Monitor and optimize system performance, including CPU, memory, disk usage, and response times. Implement proactive measures to address potential performance bottlenecks. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to resource usage. Troubleshoot network and application performance issues and recommend appropriate action. System Security and Compliance Ensure systems and databases meet security standards and comply with relevant regulations. Implement and enforce security policies. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments. Manage security updates and patches for operating systems and database environments. Incident and Problem Management Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving system and database issues. Respond to service outages. Coordinate recovery efforts. Ensure timely resolution of problems. Assist in root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions to prevent future issues. System Maintenance and Upgrades Plan and execute system downtime for scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and new releases. Install and test patches and updates for operating systems and database applications, including Oracle. Backup and Disaster Recovery Oversee and validate regular system and database backups. Support disaster recovery plans by testing restoration procedures. Collaboration and User Support Work with cross-functional teams and external partners to install and configure server systems. Support system integrations with other applications. Consult with clients for complex technical problems. Work closely with members of the project team, product subject matter experts, end users, and software engineers. Documentation and Knowledge Management Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, hardware, software, and processes. Ensure application documentation is maintained, including System Administration Guides, SOPs, Installation Procedures, and related documentation. Provide clear reporting for troubleshooting, maintenance, and security audits. Training and Knowledge Sharing Train and mentor staff on server and database management best practices. Ensure operators are well-equipped to support the systems. Cross-Platform Support Provide support for Linux and UNIX-based server environments, with a focus on application and database performance, troubleshooting, and configurations. Qualifications Education BA/BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience Proven experience in system administration, specifically with Linux, including RHEL and Ubuntu, and UNIX in classified environments. Some Windows server administration experience would be good to have. Hands-on experience with Oracle Database installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience managing both virtual and physical servers. Experience performing system monitoring. Experience with backup management. Experience implementing performance optimizations. Skills Linux system administration for applications in a classified environment. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers and virtual servers. Certifications Currently valid DoD 8570 certification such as Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification. Clearance TS/SCI with Counterintelligence Polygraph required. Preferred Qualifications Linux, including RHEL and CentOS, and Windows system administration certifications. DoDIIS Messaging experience. Familiarity with DODIIS security/builds. Experience installing, configuring, managing, and supporting PostgreSQL and Oracle databases in a classified environment. Experience performing system administration duties in the C2S/AWS environment. Ability to work after hours and weekends when needed for deployments. Solid understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities. Experience hardening Linux systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs. Experience with Linux-based procedures and scripting such as PL/SQL and UNIX common shell scripting, including k, c, bash, and similar shells. Experience with DIA systems.
