Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycle every 6 weeks
• Weekend rotation required: 5-6 weekend shifts out of every 12 shifts
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio: RN 1:4-6
• Required certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
• BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required - must pass an EKG competency exam
• Medical-Surgical nursing certification preferred but not required
• Care for patients with acute or chronic diagnoses including Heart Failure, A-Fib, Acute Kidney Injury, Chronic Kidney Disease, Respiratory Failure, COPD, Asthma, NSTEMI, Sepsis, and Diabetes
• Care for post-op surgeries and post cardiac procedure patients
• Skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, groin management, Foley insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Work with equipment including VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors, bladder scanners, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines
• Float to all adult med-surg and telemetry units within the facility
• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretary (7:00 AM to 11:00 PM), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and intensivist 24/7
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs

Facility:

This facility is a 637 licensed bed hospital holding a Level 1 Trauma Designation and operating as a teaching hospital. It features a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, providing comprehensive specialty care across a wide range of medical conditions. The unit consists of 30 beds and maintains a collaborative, team-oriented culture with robust interdisciplinary support available around the clock.
