Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in Winston Salem, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing critical close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly supported. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills and a disciplined approach to reconciliations, journal processing, and ledger integrity.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support to maintain accurate and timely financial records
• Manage general ledger activity by reviewing transactions, researching variances, and correcting discrepancies when needed
• Perform detailed account reconciliations to confirm balances are complete, accurate, and properly documented
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly and investigate outstanding items to resolution
• Analyze financial data and identify unusual fluctuations, missing entries, or posting errors before period close
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting support and resolve issues affecting financial reporting
• Proven experience working in a senior accountant or comparable accounting role• Hands-on knowledge of month-end close procedures and supporting documentation requirements
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation
• Experience performing account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
• Proficiency in bank reconciliation processes and cash-related balance review
• Ability to investigate discrepancies, organize financial detail, and meet recurring deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills in a detail-focused environment
