Quality Control Inspector (CWI/NDT)

(Brookshire, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / NDT Level II Inspector to perform quality inspections throughout the fabrication process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, welding codes, material requirements, and company quality standards. This position is responsible for inspecting materials and weldments, conducting nondestructive testing, documenting inspection activities, and supporting continuous quality assurance efforts from raw material receipt through final product shipment. Essential Duties Monitor all phases of production, from receipt of raw materials through shipment of finished products. Perform dimensional inspections to verify component fit-up and product configuration. Review fabrication drawings, contract documents, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance and potential fabrication concerns. Observe shop assemblies and verify required dimensions are accurately measured and documented. Set up, calibrate, and operate nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment. Conduct Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) to identify discontinuities and verify product quality. Evaluate welder workmanship and communicate training needs to production supervision. Witness welding procedure qualification tests (PQR) and welder qualification tests (WQT). Initiate, document, and monitor non-conformance reports, tag affected materials, and verify corrective actions are completed. Maintain complete, accurate, and organized inspection records. Exercise independent quality authority, under the direction of the Quality Manager, to ensure quality policies and procedures are followed. Promote and maintain a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety standards. Requirements/Skills High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required. Documented ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II certification and/or training in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT). Strong understanding of welding processes, nondestructive examination (NDE), fabrication methods, and applicable industry codes. Knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical specifications. Knowledge of inspection methods related to welding, painting, galvanizing, and manufacturing processes. Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic mathematical skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining positive working relationships with production personnel. Ability to follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures. Must successfully pass required vision testing, including near-vision acuity and annual color differentiation examinations. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to work in industrial environments with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, dirt, fumes, smoke, and elevated noise levels. Must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history review is required.
