Position Description Employees in this classification are responsible for nursing care at a unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Implements unit objectives and administrative policies. This position is under clinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nurses. This position is under clinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nurses. Major/Essential Functions Makes daily assignments and ensures completion of tasks. Communicates patient data using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to support decision making and improve patient care. Administers or assists with medication administration and documentation. Supports unit goals by attending meetings and sharing information with staff. Participates in quality audits. Maintains documentation to ensure standards of care and policy compliance. Conducts job evaluations and handles disciplinary actions. Keeps accurate records of employee performance. In addition to the base position compensation, we offer shift differential pay for night and weekend shifts: Registered Nurse Shift Differential Day Shift Employees: Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday. Night Shift Employees: Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through Friday. Earn an extra $8.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday. Occasional Duties Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Two years of nursing experience, with at least 6 months of that experience as a Registered Nurse. Possession of a valid, current RN license as approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.
