Dining Room Manager

The Dining Room Manager is responsible for the daily leadership, administration, and execution of all clubhouse dining operations. This position oversees service delivery, employee scheduling, reservations management, training and development, event execution, POS administration, and member satisfaction while ensuring consistency with the Club's established service standards. The Dining Room Manager serves as the primary operational leader of the front-of-house service team and works closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Clubhouse Manager, Executive Chef, and other department leaders to deliver exceptional dining experiences for members and guests. Organizational Relationships: The Dining Room Manager reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and works collaboratively with the Executive Chef, Clubhouse Manager, and other department leaders to support Club objectives and operational excellence. This position directly supervises the Dining Room Supervisors and all front-of-house service personnel and is responsible for ensuring successful execution of daily dining operations. Leadership & Administration- Essential Functions: Provide daily leadership and direction for all dining room operations. Maintain a visible management presence throughout service periods. Execute departmental goals established by the Food & Beverage Manager. Ensure consistent implementation of Club service standards. Promote professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and hospitality. Conduct regular departmental meetings and communication sessions. Participate in operational planning and improvement initiatives. Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned. Human Resource Management-Essential Functions: Participate jointly with the Food & Beverage Manager in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding front-of-house employees. Conduct employee orientation and onboarding programs. Establish performance expectations and service standards. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions. Administer disciplinary and corrective action procedures. Maintain employee performance documentation and records. Foster employee engagement and retention. Identify future leaders and support career development initiatives. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. Training & Employee Development- Essential Functions: Develop training programs in partnership with the Food & Beverage Manager. Establish service training standards and expectations. Evaluate training effectiveness and employee performance. Maintain training documentation and records. Ensure consistency of service training throughout the department. Promote continuous learning and professional growth. Work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager, Clubhouse Manager, Supervisors to execute training initiatives and service standards. Labor Management & Scheduling- Essential Functions: Develop weekly schedules based on operational needs, service requirements, and labor budgets. Monitor labor productivity and staffing efficiencies. Recommend labor adjustments and staffing strategies. Submit schedules to the Food & Beverage Manager for review and approval. Review and approve employee time-off requests. Approve shift trades and schedule modifications. Review employee time records and prepare payroll submissions for approval by the Food & Beverage Manager. Monitor overtime and labor utilization. Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations Dining Operations Management- Essential Functions: Oversee all daily dining room operations. Ensure successful execution of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special event services. Monitor service quality and member satisfaction. Coordinate dining operations with culinary leadership. Maintain dining room presentation and cleanliness standards. Monitor operational readiness and service execution. Ensure adherence to Club service standards and hospitality expectations. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and member satisfaction. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the Jonas POS system. Coordinate menu programming, button creation, pricing updates, and testing. Review daily food and beverage chits, member charges, transfers, voids, discounts, and adjustments. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies. Ensure accurate revenue capture and member billing. Coordinate with Accounting regarding billing concerns and operational reporting. Train staff on POS procedures and billing standards. Ensure compliance with Club billing and charge procedures. Reservations & Seating Management- Essential Functions: Maintain primary responsibility for reservation systems and dining room seating management. Oversee member reservations and special requests. Develop seating strategies that enhance member experiences and operational efficiency. Ensure reservation accuracy and proper communication with members. Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to manage reservations and dining room capacity. Monitor table utilization and service flow. Event, Tournament & Banquet Execution- Essential Functions: Lead execution of food and beverage operations for tournaments, holiday events, banquets, wine dinners, and special member functions. Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager and Clubhouse Manager on staffing plans and event preparation. Coordinate service logistics with culinary and clubhouse leadership. Ensure service standards are consistently executed throughout all events. Conduct post-event evaluations and recommend operational improvements. Support exceptional member and guest experiences during all Club functions. Member Relations & Service Recovery- Essential Functions: Maintain a highly visible presence in member dining areas. Develop and maintain strong relationships with members and guests. Maintain awareness of member preferences, dining habits, and special requests. Ensure service staff are informed of member preferences to enhance personalized service. Respond promptly and professionally to member concerns and service issues. Authorize service recovery actions, complimentary items, discounts, and billing adjustments as necessary to maintain member satisfaction. Communicate significant service recovery actions to the Food & Beverage Manager for review and approval. Utilize member feedback to improve service standards and operational performance. Leadership of the Dining Room Manager- Essential Functions: Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Supervisors and Service Staff. Delegate operational responsibilities and monitor performance. Conduct coaching and development discussions. Establish accountability standards and performance expectations. Support leadership development and career growth opportunities. Develop the Supervisors for future advancement opportunities within the Club. Support departmental financial objectives and budget goals. Monitor labor performance and staffing efficiencies. Assist with beverage inventory counts and inventory controls. Support receiving procedures and inventory accountability. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability. Ensure proper use and care of Club resources and equipment. Support cost-control initiatives established by department leadership. Decision- Making Authority- Authorized To: Develop employee schedules and staffing plans. Approve shift trades and hourly employee time-off requests. Recommend hiring decisions. Administer corrective action and employee coaching. Approve payroll submissions for review. Authorize service recovery actions, complimentary items, discounts, and billing adjustments within established Club guidelines. Manage daily staffing adjustments and operational decisions. Implement operational procedures approved by the Food & Beverage Manager. Qualifications: Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred. Minimum three (3) years of progressive hospitality leadership experience. Private club experience preferred. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service operations. Experience with scheduling, payroll administration, and employee supervision. Experience managing reservations and dining room operations. Experience with POS systems and operational reporting.
