Merchant

Management level position responsible for merchandising and buying of product line. Develops an assortment plan, including price point and space allocation for a product.

Ensures the product development follows the line plan and production calendar. Collaborates with manufacturing on vendors, calendar and costing strategies. May participant in plans for ad campaigns and merchandise presentations. Participates in the patterning process. Tracks competitive intelligence process and performs assessments of fashion trends. May partner with other functions to manage inventory. Tracks and reviews sales to provide analysis for increased sales opportunities, improve margins, manage inventories and decrease markdowns. Works fairly independently and handles issues of complexity. Typically reports to Merchandising Manager. Typically no direct reports. May be assigned an Assistant Buyer.

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. May have advanced degree. 5-7 years of merchandising experience.
