divh2Medication Aide/h2pThe Medication Aide is responsible for accurately preparing, administering, and documenting medications as prescribed, observing residents for reactions or side effects./ppEssential Functions:/pulliAccurately prepare, administer and document medications as prescribed; Immediately report any errors to Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing/liliAccurately take and record vital signs/liliAccurately count and sign medication administration record for controlled drugs/liliSafely lift, move and transfer residents as required. This involves the ability to safely transfer residents who cannot bear their own weight. It also involves the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting in excess of 150 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations; manual dexterity required performing tasks in assisting residents with their personal needs/liliObserve all residents and report anything unusual or abnormal to Charge Nurse; ability to safely care for residents in a patient and respectful manner despite some residents lack of cooperation and/or combativeness/liliFollow safety guidelines; promptly remove and clean up urine or bowel excretions and other spills or safety hazards/liliSafely utilize equipment; Report any equipment needing service or repair immediately/liliParticipate in emergency fire or disaster drills and other in-service training as scheduled; must be able to safely ascend and descend stairwells and assist in an evacuation/liliFollow Universal Safety Precautions in order to protect one self, residents and other staff members; must have the capability to withstand strong foul odors and the ability to tolerate wearing necessary personal protective equipment; willingness and ability to wear, tolerate and use protective clothing and equipment needed in the carrying out of duties, i.e. latex gloves/liliMust be capable of maintaining regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies/liliPerform Nurse Aide duties, as directed; this requires the ability to perform the Essential Functions of a Certified Nurse Assistant with or without accommodation/liliPromote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests/liliUse tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations/liliUse appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times/liliPerform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse/liliObserve for and immediately report to Charge Nurse or Shift Supervisor any noted reactions or side effects of medications/liliUnderstand and adhere to the guidelines of Residents Rights and assure resident safety/li/ulpQualifications:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)/liliMust have completed and passed a state approved Medication Aide course/liliCurrent medication aide permit from Texas Department of Health/liliBe in good standing on Nurse Aide Registry and Nurse Assistant Misconduct Registry/liliCurrent Certified Nurse Assistant certification in Texas/liliAbility to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions in English/liliAbility to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents/li/ululliCPR certified/li/ulpPhysical Requirements: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations/ppWork Schedule: As assigned, may require some weekends, holidays or evenings as approved/ppWork Environment: Clinical/ppCaraday Healthcare provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other characteristic protected by law./p/div
