Description: The Registered Nurse on Client Child Health is responsible for providing direct patient care to a designated group of patients. This position works collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the nursing practice guidelines. Responsibilities include observing data collection, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. The nurse assesses patients and families with needs that range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities based on past clinical experience. A person-centered care approach is utilized in the development of care plans and prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. The nurse plans for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Patients and families are involved in establishing care goals. Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Competence in the implementation of technical skills required for patient care is essential. The nurse acts as a resource to peers and demonstrates initiative in remaining current on policies, procedures, and standards. Interventions for achieving care goals reflect collaborative involvement with health team members. Facilitates connections for patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Floating to other departments is expected on a rotational basis based on unit needs. Scheduling requests will be discussed at the time of the offer and are not guaranteed.
