Job Description

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a key role in managing corporate and fund accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting a growing private investing platform with complex legal entity structures. This role oversees international shared service accounting functions, maintains complete books and records for multiple entities and funds, and partners closely with investment, asset management, tax, and audit teams. The position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys hands-on work with reconciliations, fund structures, and corporate entities, and who thrives in a high-growth, fully onsite environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of the private investing platform, including complex legal entity structures and fund arrangements.

• Interpret, implement, and administer accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Prepare and complete corporate financial statements and bank reconciliations accurately and on time, analyze results, draw conclusions, and recommend improvements.

• Oversee the performance of the international shared service accounting team, monitor outputs, ensure adherence to service contracts, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, capital accounts, and intercompany accounts, and identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies.

• Serve as the primary contact for assigned areas of responsibility and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to team members.

• Prepare and process journal entries accurately and in a timely manner, supported by complete and appropriate documentation.

• Ensure invoice coding is accurate and that payments are correctly applied to the appropriate accounts and entities.

• Prepare and maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized workpapers in line with departmental requirements and deadlines.

• Accurately calculate General Partner, Limited Partner, and Asset Management fees in accordance with various investment management agreements.

• Assist in preparing for and supporting the completion of the annual US GAAP audit, including providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

• Collaborate with tax preparers on annual tax returns and filings, providing accurate financial data and supporting schedules.

• Review existing accounting systems and procedures, recommend modifications, and help implement process improvements as needed.

• Assist in maintaining the company expense reimbursement policy and system, ensuring proper controls and compliance.

• Handle ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned, supporting the broader finance and accounting function.

• Participate actively in the budgeting process to support long- and short-term business objectives.

• Design and prepare detailed financial analyses, including bespoke data requests for leadership and other stakeholders.

• Prepare and analyze periodic cash position reports for all corporate entities and provide insights on liquidity and cash needs.

• Prepare and analyze annual corporate budgets and periodic reforecasts, and update assumptions as needed.

• Assess corporate performance against budget, identify significant variances, and clearly explain the underlying drivers.

• Initiate and/or review transfers, wires, and ACH transactions, and process stop payments on checks when required.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly fund and joint venture financial statements in accordance with fund or joint venture agreements.

• Assist investment and asset management teams with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for funds and joint ventures.

• Maintain complete books and records for all fund structures and related legal entities, including foreign entities and general partner entities.

• Handle the books and reconciliations for multiple corporate entities and ensure funds are accurately maintained.

• Support general accounting activities, including fixed assets, general ledger maintenance, and month-end closing processes.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business and/or Accounting.

• 3+ years of overall accounting experience, with demonstrated leadership skills.

• 3-5 years of experience in corporate accounting or investment accounting, or approximately 3 years of experience at a top 20 accounting firm.

• Strong knowledge and experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements.

• Hands-on experience completing bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.

• Proficiency in creating and posting journal entries and managing general ledger activity.

• Experience with reconciliations, including bank, capital accounts, and intercompany accounts.

• Experience with fund accounting and fund accounts, including monthly and quarterly fund and joint venture reporting.

• Ability to calculate and reconcile General Partner, Limited Partner, and Asset Management fees.

• Thorough understanding of US GAAP and experience supporting annual audit processes.

• Strong general accounting skills, including month-end close, fixed assets, and general ledger.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Demonstrated passion for excellence in customer service delivery, both internal and external.

• Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and recommend practical solutions.

• Must-have experience in reconciliations and fund-related accounting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CPA license or active CPA candidate status preferred.

• Experience in public accounting or real estate private equity, particularly with fund and separate account accounting, is preferred.

• Experience working with institutional investors is a plus.

• Experience with budgeting and forecasting is beneficial but not required for this role.

• Familiarity with RealPage or similar ERP systems is helpful but not required.

• Experience with expense reimbursement policies and systems is an advantage.

• Ability to manage and provide guidance to shared service or offshore accounting teams.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain complete and well-structured workpapers.

• Comfort working in a growth-oriented environment where processes continue to evolve.

• Proficiency with general accounting tools and systems, including concur or similar expense tools, fixed asset modules, and general ledger systems.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite and supports a growing organization where the accounting function is expanding due to business growth. The Senior Corporate Accountant manages the books, reconciliations, and fund maintenance for multiple corporate entities and fund structures, including foreign and general partner entities. The position involves close collaboration with international shared service teams, investment and asset management teams, tax preparers, and auditors. The environment is dynamic and growth-focused, offering exposure to complex private investing structures and real estate or fund-related transactions. The role uses an ERP system (currently RealPage, though prior experience with it is not required) and other general accounting tools for general ledger, fixed assets, expense reimbursement, and reconciliations. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
