General Maintenance Operator NPRSA
Under the general direction and supervision of the Director or designee, the General Maintenance Operator NPRSA maintains and operates the physical plant of the ice rink, recreation center, pool and recreational area. Performs ice rink operations/Zamboni operations, trail maintenance, facility maintenance, pool chemistry, equipment maintenance and repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years general maintenance experience including the use of basic/power tools and landscaping equipment, building and vehicle maintenance, basic electrical and plumbing, and custodial duties. High school diploma or GED required. Valid, unrestricted Alaska driver license required. Preferred experience includes ice rink maintenance, Zamboni operations and swimming pool maintenance. Certified Pool Operators (CPO) certificate must be acquired within 1 year of employment.
Essential Functions
- Maintains ice rink and adjacent rink facilities; includes ice making and Zamboni operations.
- Maintains trail systems and disc golf course; winter grooming as needed which includes snow machine/groomer operations.
- Maintains all service area facilities; including but not limited to area trails, playgrounds, and recreation center.
- Repairs and maintains physical structures and equipment of NPRSA.
- Operates a variety of construction and maintenance equipment and various vehicles.
- Performs snow removal, landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Performs work on a preventive maintenance schedule.
- Performs general custodial duties.
- Maintains tools, power equipment and maintenance equipment of service area; including but not limited to the service area trucks, landscaping equipment, and Zamboni.
- Inspects assigned areas of duty for hazards and reports to the Director or designee regarding the nature of the hazard and plan for action to address the hazard.
Other Functions:
- May fill in as maintenance mechanic on a temporary basis in the absence of the Maintenance Mechanic II. Includes open/close of facilities.
- Performs pool chemistry tests and makes adjustments as needed.
- Coordinates with Maintenance Mechanic II on all trouble shooting, work repairs and maintenance of the service area. Coordinates purchasing through the Maintenance Mechanic II and/or Director.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see, talk and hear; swim; stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch; and frequently required to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate equipment and controls. The employee must regularly transport up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
