Preschool Montessori Teacher

Children’s House looking to hire positive and reliable individuals who have a love of teaching and are adaptable, caring, and team-oriented. Montessori experience and certification are required.

Our full-time compensation package includes employee contribution benefits such as health, PTO, a competitive rate of pay, and on-going professional development. Salary is based on an average of a 40 hour work week.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and general tidiness and cleanliness of the classroom, disinfecting materials and supplies.
• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Write monthly class newsletters & individual progress reports 2 times per school year
• Create a warm, friendly, supportive, and open relationship with parents/guardians through daily communication and demonstrated availability.

Skills

• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Great understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods

• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Ability to act as mediator between children

• Friendly and reliable
• Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
• BSc/BA in education or relevant field

Children's House of Columbia has been a Montessori school serving the Columbia community for the past 50 years. We have a student population of about 80 children, ages 2-6 years old. Affiliated with AMS, full-time staff of 12. 

We also provide the possibility to pursue further education through Montessori training to become Montessori certified. Columbia is a great town to live in with 110,000 residents, and three college campuses. We are located on campus at the University of Missouri.
