Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery/Well-Baby Nursery/Postpartum

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum Unit. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.

Job Responsibilities

Manage and conduct deliveries independently while ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
Provide couplet care in the postpartum unit, typically at a ratio of 1 nurse to 4 couplets.
Monitor fetal heart rates and respond appropriately to changes in the patient's condition.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including OB/GYNs, midwives, and hospitalists.
Participate in continuous education and adhere to AWHONN guidelines for labor and delivery.

Shift Details

12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
Every other weekend commitment.
First to float among units as needed.
Self-scheduling with managerial oversight to ensure coverage.

Unit Information

Combined Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum Unit.
10 total beds; average of 30-40 deliveries per month.
Utilizes Cerner for electronic medical records and Fetal Link for monitoring.
No dedicated nurse aides available.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum care.
Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, and NRP.
Must possess NCC certification as an inpatient OB (RNC-OB) and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
Comfortable managing high-risk deliveries, including those involving twins and substance withdrawal protocols.

Additional Information

Orientation will consist of 2-3 days dedicated to unit-specific training.
No float required to MedSurg or CCU unless desired by the nurse.
Pharmacy services available for 10 hours a day; RT services available 24/7.
