About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and visionary leader with a strong background in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field. Responsibilities include fostering innovation and collaboration, leading educational, research, and service activities, and ensuring the efficient operation of administrative functions. The Chair will be the principal representative of the department, responsible for strategic vision, program development, and expanding the department's research profile. The role also involves overseeing the department budget, coordinating teaching assignments, and mentoring faculty and staff. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, approximately ten years of professional experience, a proven track record in scholarly activity, and a commitment to academic excellence and collaborative leadership. Applicants for the Chair position at the company should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, or an earned doctorate in STEM education with a master's degree in a related field, and a strong background in engineering, engineering technology, or a related discipline. The role requires a candidate with a distinguished record in research, teaching, and service, commensurate with the rank of full professor. Experience in higher education administration, particularly in leading an academic department or program, is highly valued. The Chair will be expected to have a democratic and collaborative leadership style, with a focus on transparency, strong communication, and the ability to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. Additional qualifications include a commitment to student-centered education, experience in faculty recruitment and development, and a proven track record in student recruitment and retention. The position demands a leader who can effectively manage the department's financial resources, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and lead the department toward enhanced sponsored research.
