Hebron Lane Shepherdsville, KY 40165 Job Description Summary UofL Health - South Hospital hires Registered Nurses (RNs) for our Cath Lab, ED, ICU, Mixed Acuity, OR, and Pre‑Op/PACU departments at the newest community hospital in Bullitt County. The 170,000 square‑foot, 40‑bed facility offers 24/7 emergency care, a 10‑bed ICU, 30 mixed acuity rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, vascular lab, surgery, endoscopy, imaging, orthopedics, gastroenterology, sleep medicine, vascular surgery, pharmacy, laboratory and sterile processing services, and on‑campus primary and specialty care, a rehab center and dining. Registered Nurse Responsibilities Conduct systematic, continuous and comprehensive patient assessments from admission or encounter to discharge, ensuring safety and collaborating with the healthcare team, patient and family, addressing all individual and family aspects, and using safety surveillance to prevent adverse outcomes. Independently administer medications per licensure authority, assess and reassess medication effects, and document administration promptly while adhering to patient safety guidelines. Plan care with patients and families using current scientific knowledge, theory and care standards within nursing interventions and outcomes frameworks and national patient safety goals; craft individualized, age‑specific plans and integrate multidisciplinary data for continuity and teaching. Identify and prioritize patient problems based on subjective and objective data, safety considerations, patient and family goals and preferences, and nursing interventions, and the medical plan of care. Implement nursing care interventions to meet patient and family health needs, demonstrating competent skills, clinical judgment and chain of command to promote safety and achieve planned goals. Assess, conduct and evaluate the outcomes of patient and family teaching from admission to discharge, ensuring sensitivity to age, learning needs and cultural background. Evaluate care by performing systematic reviews of patient/family responses to interventions, revising the multidisciplinary plan of care with team members, recognizing care variances and taking steps to prevent or intervene with potential adverse events. Advocate for patients and families, respect their rights, and prepare them for discharge while obtaining feedback to promote satisfaction. Collaborate with unlicensed assistive healthcare providers, delegating and monitoring per regulations, ensuring safe patient care delivery. Other Functions Demonstrate professional conduct and appearance, and account for actions and outcomes. Orient new team members and supervise students in assigned duties. Act as relief charge nurse as needed. Maintain professional competency through continuing education, licensure, and professional activities, valuing lifelong learning. Participate in evidence‑based practice activities such as journal clubs and discuss outcomes with colleagues, using knowledge of care indicators to improve delivery. Actively collaborate with the healthcare team, communicating constructively and resolving clinical and interdepartmental problems, giving and receiving peer review. Perform duties cost‑effectively, avoiding waste without compromising quality. Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, standards of conduct and HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (required). Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (preferred). Experience All new RN graduates must participate in and complete the Nurse Residency program (required). Two years of hospital patient care experience (preferred). Licensure Current Kentucky RN licensure or a compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required). Certification Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accredited by the AHA (may be required for specific clinical areas). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the AHA (may be required for specific clinical areas).
