Agentic AI Sr. Engineer

AstraZeneca seeks a senior engineer to design and deploy agentic AI systems that enable biologics scientists to work more effectively. The role combines LLM development, software engineering, and close collaboration with scientific teams to build production-ready tools integrated with internal data and lab platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate agentic and LLM-powered systems for biologics scientists from concept through production
- Create custom agentic skills and tools that encode scientific expertise for domain-specific work
- Connect agents to internal data, models, and services while meeting AstraZeneca security standards
- Build digital pipelines moving data between models, lab platforms, and scientific users
- Partner with protein scientists, computational biologists, and platform engineers to deliver integrated solutions
Requirements
- MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Biology, Data Science, or related quantitative field
- 3–10 years software engineering experience with proven shipped agentic AI systems
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript with software best practices
- Hands-on experience building LLMs and agent frameworks including tool calling and orchestration
- Working knowledge of Unix, SQL databases, REST APIs, and AWS cloud computing
- Fluency with modern agentic developer tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
Compensation: $137,349.40–$206,091.60 base annually
