Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant Our client, a well-established organization in the distribution industry, is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support core accounting functions and financial close activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting operational accounting needs, and ensuring compliance with GAAP in a fast-paced distribution environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting schedules Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances Support month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with established timelines Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP Partner with operations, inventory, and supply chain teams on accounting matters Support inventory accounting, including reconciliations, adjustments, and reserve analysis Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and schedules Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 4+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior experience within distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments preferred Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end close experience Solid understanding of GAAP Experience working with ERP systems Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration Excellent organizational and time-management abilities Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment Compensation & Benefits Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
