Patient Registrar

- Schedule: FT M-F 9AM-5PM
- Duration: 8 W
- Greet and register patients in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Obtain and enter all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information into the appropriate computer system.
- Pre-register patients in the online system and obtain medical record numbers when necessary.
- Perform insurance verification checks for Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers as required.
- Schedule and maintain daily appointment schedules, ensuring efficient management of appointment flow.
- Request and review patient charts, ensuring necessary test results and relevant information are recorded.
- Retrieve laboratory and radiographic data from clinic information systems and laboratories.
- Interface with referring offices and internal departments to schedule patient exams.
- Request and obtain valid physician requisitions for all exams and ensure timely submission of third-party bills.
- Prepare all pertinent paperwork, including authorizations and diagnostic testing requisitions.
- Notify patients of financial obligations and establish payment arrangements according to financial policies.
- Counsel patients regarding payment options, Medicaid eligibility, and charity care qualifications.
- Collect co-payments and fees, issue receipts, and reconcile daily cash collections.
- Assist in compiling data for routine statistical reports and summaries.
- HS Diploma/GED
- One year of clerical experience
- Customer service experience
- Data entry skills of 4500 keystrokes
- Effective communication skills
- Telephone, computer, keyboard, and customer service skills
- Knowledge of health insurance benefits and requirements
- Knowledge of Coding: ICD 9, CPT-4
