Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to assist clients in financial wellness both in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker will attract new clients to Key and work with existing clients to develop and expand relationships based on their unique financial goals, leading to client confidence in their finances. The Personal Banker is a client‑first, sales‑driven, self‑motivated, and competitive individual. Strong teamwork, paired with communication polish and confidence, are critical for this role. Essential Functions Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact on their day, professionally and financially. Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during in‑person and over‑the‑phone client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations. Consistently attain individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations. Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.). Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners, focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships of current clients; effectively manage internal and external centers of influence. Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies, including documentation of client interactions. Support branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the teller line as needed. Participate in and occasionally facilitate in‑person morning huddles and end‑of‑day debriefs. Work on Saturdays as directed by management. Perform other duties as assigned; duties may change at any time with or without notice. Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally, ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients. Education High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required). Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). Work Experience Minimum 1 year’s experience developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources. Sales experience is more important than financial services experience. Understanding of consumer credit, including loan‑to‑value, debt‑to‑income, and credit reports. Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele‑consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking. Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact‑finding questions. Experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence (Key Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking sales professionals). Working knowledge of PCs (Windows, Office products). Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms. Licenses & Certifications Notary License (preferred). Skills Knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank; uses sound judgment. Ability to attain sales and referral goals through appointments and quality conversations. Strong work ethic and high integrity. Excellent time‑management skills. Excellent client service, building trust through responsiveness. Ability to evaluate financial information for investment opportunities and recommend strategies. Managing risks associated with banking operations and client transactions. Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills. Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions. Physical Demands Consumer Retail – prolonged standing (5–8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate objects, ability to communicate face‑to‑face and on the phone, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, and occasional lifting of 1–10 lbs; up to 30 lbs occasionally. Driving Requirements Routinely operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Compensation & Benefits Base hourly rate: $20.67–$31.25. Compensation includes incentive compensation, production, commission, and discretionary incentives. Eligible for benefits (health, dental, etc.).
