Work Environment & Population ServedOur facilities function as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that offer:
- Long-term care for residents needing continuous skilled support and compassionate daily assistance.
- Short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury.
- Collaborative care through a team-oriented approach involving nursing, therapy, and medical staff working in unison.
- A diverse patient demographic that includes those with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs.
The patient mix may vary slightly by location. As a therapy professional, you will assist patients in achieving functional improvements and enhancing their quality of life within a supportive, patient-focused setting.
Position OverviewThe Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers direct rehabilitation services in speech therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements- Must be a graduate of an accredited speech therapy program (minimum MS or MA SLP).
- ASHA certified (CCCs) OR eligible for a 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to obtain ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or meet ASHA credentialing criteria. Once obtained, ASHA credentialing must be maintained.
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state, with an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- One (1) year of experience is preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply .
- CPR certification is required upon hire or must be obtained during orientation. CPR certification must remain current throughout employment.
- Engage in community health initiatives/projects as appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively plan for patient needs.
- Exhibit proper body mechanics at all times.
- Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Familiar with practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care facility.
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Perform competently in all required areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others.
- Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.
- Understand and adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
- Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training.
- Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
- (SLP CCC only) Oversee and evaluate care provided by SLP CFYs.
- (SLP CFY only) Follow speech therapy treatment plans under the supervision of the SLP CCC, in accordance with Federal and State guidelines.
- Document appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize therapy software accurately and effectively.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
- Assist in the safe evacuation of patients.
- Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
- Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate productively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
