JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

POSITION TITLE:

SUMMARY: The Experienced Non-Certificated Aircraft Technician performs advanced mechanical assembly, structural modifications, and complex troubleshooting on aircraft systems. This role requires the ability to complete day-to-day maintenance tasks with minimal supervision, drawing on extensive hands-on aircraft maintenance experience, which may include military service or heavy maintenance environments. Because this position does not require an FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) certificate, all completed work must be reviewed and signed off by a certificated technician or inspector.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Airframe, Powerplant, and Fleet Maintenance

• Learjet Fleet Upkeep: Perform routine and non-routine scheduled maintenance, phase inspections, and structural repairs on company-owned Learjet 31, 35, and 45 aircraft.
• System Component Repair: Safely remove, overhaul, and install close-tolerance airframe structures, control surfaces, landing gear, and TFE731 engine components under supervised direction.
• Advanced Diagnostics: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel system discrepancies using precision tools, schematics, and specialized diagnostic tooling. 
• Structural Modifications: Execute sheet metal repairs, close-tolerance drilling, and riveting according to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals and Structural Repair Manuals (SRM).

1. Medical Interior & Specialized Equipment Integration

• EMS Interior Maintenance: Maintain and inspect dedicated onboard life-support interiors, including FAA-approved patient stretchers, electrical power inverters, oxygen delivery lines, and secure medical equipment mounts.
• Coordinated System Care: Collaborate closely with flight crews to troubleshoot life-critical aircraft power integrations supporting incubators, ventilators, and neonatal/pediatric transport assemblies. 

1. Part 135 Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

• Maintenance Logging: Complete accurate digital and paper maintenance log entries detailing all work performed, part transfers, and applicable manual reference citations.
• Manual Compliance: Interpret and execute procedures as outlined in Medway’s General Operations Manual (GOM), OEM technical data, and Airworthiness Directives (ADs).
• Supervised Validation: Prepare technical assemblies for physical inspection and regulatory sign-off by a certified A&P Technician or Inspector.

1. Ground Operations & Hangar Safety

• Aircraft Flight Line Readiness: Safely marshal, tow, and position aircraft on the ramp or inside the hangar using heavy tugs.
• FOD Elimination: Maintain absolute accountability of personal and shop tools to eliminate Foreign Object Damage (FOD) hazards near open flight components.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Experience: Minimum of 2 to 4+ years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience. Jet or turbine-powered business aircraft experience, or a military aviation background, is highly preferred.
• Specific Aircraft Knowledge: Prior exposure to Learjet 31, 35, and 45 airframes or Honeywell turbine platforms is strongly preferred.
• Education: High school diploma, GED, or technical trade school equivalent.
• Tool Requirement: Must possess a complete personal set of standard aviation hand tools.
• Licensing Path: Must meet the FAA’s practical experience milestones under 14 CFR Part 65.77 and show active, verifiable progression toward testing for an A&P certificate.
• Screening Requirements: Must pass a background check for active airport security badge access and participate in required Department of Transportation (DOT) / FAA pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening programs.
