This travel RN assignment is designed for an experienced Registered Nurse who is confident caring for complex cardiac and step-down patients while working collaboratively in a high-acuity inpatient environment.

Travel RN Job Details

• Position: Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, subject to orientation and applicable low-census provisions
• Weekend and Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Healthcare Setting: 44-bed cardiac intermediate/progressive care and telemetry unit
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4
• Orientation: 8 hours
• Float Requirement: Float to inpatient units as needed

Cardiac Progressive Care RN Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of recent intermediate care, progressive care, step-down, or telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 year of strong cardiac nursing experience in a cardiac step-down, intermediate cardiac, or cardiac intensive care setting
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA or ARC
• Demonstrated experience managing Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro infusions
• At least 1 year of recent EPIC electronic health record experience
• Successful completion of an EKG competency test during the first week
• At least one completed travel nursing assignment
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Adaptability, resilience, strong organization, and the ability to work independently in a high-turnover environment

Cardiac Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac progressive care, PCU, step-down, and telemetry patients.
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from CABG, valve procedures, thoracotomy, vascular procedures, cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and defibrillator placement, ablations, and other cardiac interventions.
• Care for patients with arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, acute chest pain, myocardial infarction, and other complex cardiac conditions.
• Administer and monitor cardiac medications and infusions, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro, according to clinical orders and unit standards.
• Recognize changes in cardiac rhythm and patient condition and respond promptly using appropriate nursing interventions.
• Manage a typical 1:4 patient assignment while prioritizing care and completing documentation in EPIC.
• Care for medical-surgical overflow patients, including those with detoxification needs, diabetic ketoacidosis, COPD exacerbations, respiratory failure, and post-femoral-popliteal bypass recovery.
• Float to other inpatient units as needed and collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team.
