Teacher, French 1A/B & 2A/B – Redland Middle School Position: 0.6 full‑time equivalent (FY27) Summary Description Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Works with interdisciplinary teams to create a school culture that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school‑related settings. Communicates and collaborates with students, staff, parents, and community. Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains records, follows required procedures, and uses data to monitor achievement. Monitors appropriate use of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands & Special Requirements As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies. Commitment to high content and high expectations for all learners. Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies, integrating reading, writing, math, and technology. Ability to self‑reflect for continuous improvement. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school‑based staff, students, parents, and community. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Commitment to serving as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diversity. Education & Training Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners.
