Position Overview

STHS McAllen Heart Hospital is seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse for a contract assignment within a fast-paced cardiovascular and electrophysiology environment. The RN will assist with emergency and elective cardiac procedures including angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker implantation, and electrophysiology studies while delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will possess strong critical care and cardiac procedural experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to function efficiently within a multidisciplinary Cath Lab team.

Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care before, during, and after cardiac and electrophysiology procedures
Monitor patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies
Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures
Administer medications and monitor patient responses throughout procedures
Assess patient conditions and respond appropriately during emergencies
Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions
Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards
Assist with emergency and elective angioplasty procedures, drug-eluting stents, pacemaker implantation, and electrophysiology cases
Support staff education and knowledge sharing within the department
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
Current Registered Nurse license required
Minimum one year of experience monitoring diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies required
Recent acute care experience required
Current BLS Certification required
Current ACLS Certification required
Current NIHSS Certification required
Candidates must live at least 50 miles from facility location
