Adjunct Faculty, Psychology

Job Description Adjunct faculty will plan, develop, and teach psychology courses within the curriculum at Lone Star College-Conroe Center. The role focuses on creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of course material, overseeing student progress, and maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Essential Job Functions Teach Psychology (PSYC) courses at various times and locations. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilize a course syllabus following institutional guidelines. Meet with and advise students by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of their progress. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content. Demonstrated leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration and facilitation. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people. Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies. Commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning. Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology integration. Use of strategies to engage students in their learning. Physical Abilities The work is primarily sedentary, involving sitting at a workstation. Occasional walking, standing, bending, and light carrying may be required. No special physical demands are needed. Work Schedule and Conditions Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment. Work conducted in climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards. Hours vary by class schedule; faculty must be available outside class instruction for student meetings. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology or equivalent with at least 18 graduate hours in psychology, or a Master’s in educational psychology/counseling psychology with 18 hours of graduate coursework in psychology.
