Job Title: Production Worker Job Description | Pay: $26/hour to start (bumped $5-7 to Union)

This role involves working as a Production Worker in a chemical distribution plant that supplies products used in food production. You will handle materials, operate a sit-down forklift, support shipping and receiving activities, and assist with chemical filling and container preparation while following safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using a sit-down forklift.
• Stage products accurately for shipment according to shipping schedules and instructions.
• Move products and materials throughout the facility with a sit-down forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Correctly label products and containers, ensuring all identification and documentation is accurate and legible.
• Clean storage tanks, totes, and other containers, including scraping off old labels and applying new labels as needed.
• Perform chemical filling operations, including filling totes and completing manual fills in a safe and controlled manner.
• Handle chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and plant guidelines.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and plant procedures to maintain product quality and compliance.
• Assist with bagging, tagging, and other packaging tasks to prepare products for shipment.
• Support general warehouse and production activities, including organizing materials and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
• Read and use a tape measure accurately when required for production or packaging tasks.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, take direction from supervisors, and complete assigned tasks on time.
• Work in a safety-focused manner, using provided protective equipment and following all safety protocols.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience working in a production environment; experience in a GMP-regulated environment is preferred.
• At least 3 years of forklift experience, specifically with sit-down forklifts.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Experience with staging, shipping, loading trucks, and general warehouse operations.
• Ability to perform labeling, bagging, tagging, and material handling tasks with attention to detail.
• Experience handling chemicals in an industrial or production setting.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Ability to follow instructions and take orders reliably.
• Strong safety orientation and commitment to working safely at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a food-related or chemical production facility.
• Comfort working in a non-union production environment.
• Ability to work effectively on a first-shift schedule and adjust slightly for training as needed.
• Strong teamwork skills and reliability in a fast-paced production and warehouse setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-union production facility within a "Food" building that distributes chemicals to food manufacturers and distributors. The environment is described as dirty, but clean relative to the type of work performed. It is a chemical setting where the air may frequently smell of ammonia or chlorine. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on first shift, with the possibility of starting at 8:00 a.m. and working until 4:30 p.m. during training. Employees receive protective wear, including face shields, safety glasses, and full rubber suits when handling chemicals, and are expected to use this equipment consistently to maintain a safe workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
