Part Time Overnight Medication Technician/Caregiver - MA Float

Job Details: Job Location: Main Location - Artesia, CA, Salary Range: $19.50 - $24.72Hourly, Part-Time Overnight Medication Assistant/Caregiver Join our team as a Part-Time Overnight Medication Assistant/Caregiver, providing compassionate support and care to our residents through the overnight hours. This position is scheduled from 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL): Distribute medications according to doctor’s orders and following all procedures, documentation and regulations as trained. Having an awareness, on every shift, of which residents have been deemed as Independent Administration by their Physician’s Report. Organize and maintain the medication cart. Observe and report changes in resident’s condition immediately to Wellness Coordinator or Skilled Nursing Charge Nurse. Communicate all important information using the Communication Book and Matrix Obtain urine and stool specimens as assigned. Weigh residents as assigned. Perform treatment as ordered in Matrix. Assist in changing bedding and/or clothing and other housekeeping services as needed. Assist residents in transporting residents to/from areas needed within the facility. Assist residents with scheduling physician appointments as needed. Watch for and report any change in resident’s room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc. Assist in ordering new medications, making changes to current orders, and ordering labs as needed and as ordered by a Physician with nursing oversight. Send a copy of all laboratory and/or test results to a resident’s Physician immediately, also giving a copy to the Wellness Coordinator for review. Cross Train as Care Partner I (Medication Technician and Care Giver) in Memory Care East and West Houses Flexibility to fill in as primary North or South Medication Assistant or East or West Care Partner I on scheduled shift, if that position calls off for their shift. In coordination with other staff members, such as Life Engagement Team members, identify, develop, and offer supplies for activities that can help calm agitated, anxious, or aggressive behaviors. Demonstrate and integrate trainings into daily interventions and interaction with the residents. Relieve the Medication Assistants in North and South Station for meal and rest breaks. Perform assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks daily as assigned and complete the job task list daily General Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate Core Values and Non-Negotiable Behaviors as defined by the Artesia Christian Home. Assist in providing and maintaining an environment that provides a balance of structure and nurture, while working to engage residents in daily life, encouraging them to be as independent as possible. Complete and maintain training requirements related to dementia care, program philosophy and job description related training. Follow Residents’ Rights and Confidentiality policies at all times. Follow facility safety, emergency & disaster program. Observe infection control procedures. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook. Attend all in-service training programs and complete Relias trainings as assigned. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor in a cooperative manner Qualifications: Qualifications Must pass a California criminal background clearance. Must possess written and oral communication skills in English. Hold, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with the elderly is preferred. Must be in good physical and mental condition, capable of performing assigned tasks; Good health must be verified by a health screening performed by a licensed physician, including a chest X-ray or intradermal test for TB. Must be able to hear, talk, and have a clear vision with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel, and move intermittently during working hours and lift or exert force of up to 50 lbs. Must be able to perform in a busy environment, subject to frequent interruptions, subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents and family members, subject to falls, infectious diseases, substances, and odors.
