About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Neuro Duration: 19 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required. License: Current nursing license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Neuro experience is mandatory. Must have the ability to titrate LEVO. Must be able to adhere to strict call-off policy. Unit does not accept first-time travelers. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in neuro stepdown care. The unit focuses on an intermediate population specialized in neurological and medical intermediate patients. The nurse will manage a variety of procedures and patient diagnoses including aneurysms and repair, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, and more. Responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV therapy, medications, and neurological assessments. There is a need for strong teamwork and meeting behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. The nurse will be required to work three weekend shifts every six weeks. The average patient ratio is 1:4. Travelers are expected to work in other intermediate areas as needed. Additional responsibilities may include monitoring patients on telemetry, administering medications, and managing surgical drains. Candidates must possess experience with various critical care and emergency response skills, including biPAP/CPAP management and post-neurosurgery care. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting. The unit enforces a teamwork approach and expects adherence to call-off policies. Candidates must have EPIC experience.
