Tooling Design Engineer

Our client, a leading aerospace aerostructures manufacturer is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer to join their team. In this role you will serve as the bridge between product design and production, own the end-to-end tooling lifecycle, from initial 3D surface modeling to shop-floor validation, for complex composite aerostructures.

responsibilities:

• Concept, model, and detail a wide range of tooling for composite bonding, trimming, assembly, inspection, and transportation fixtures.

• Create 3D models and 2D drawings in CATIA V5 for complex surface geometries, large assemblies, and design-in-context environments.

• Define GD&T, perform tolerance stack-up analyses, select appropriate materials, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Work with engineers, quality, and operations to define design requirements

• Support vendors during tooling manufacturing and final buyoff

• Participate in design reviews to ensure parts can be manufactured and assembled efficiently

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree

• Must have in depth experience in tool design using CATIA V5 with strong proficiency in surfacing

• Proven experience designing tools, jigs, or custom manufacturing equipment.
