Certified Pharmacy Technician - Roanoke, VA

Job Description

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Location: Roanoke, VA
Setting: Office-Based Pharmacy
Employment Type: 13-Week Contract with Possible Extension or Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Start Date: Approximately 2 weeks after offer
Training: 2 weeks

Responsibilities

Process prescriptions, insurance adjudications, and claim rejections

Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification

Complete prescription data entry and paperwork

Communicate with patients and prescribers

Maintain inventory through cycle counts, restocking, and expiration checks

Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and destruction processes

Cross-train across various pharmacy functions

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations

Requirements

Active Virginia Pharmacy Technician registration

National Pharmacy Technician Certification required: PTCB, NHA, or ExCPT

At least 2 years of recent pharmacy technician experience

Retail, closed-door, mail-order, or long-term care experience, required

Local candidates only

Highest level of education must be listed on your resume

Strong attention to detail, organization, professionalism, and time management

Positive attitude and ability to multitask
