Senior Software Engineer II - Front End

Job DescriptionJob Summary:The Senior Software Engineer II will support the development and continued improvement of customer-facing digital experiences across Walgreens.com, including the content management system, search functionality, store locator, and product detail pages.This position is primarily focused on front-end development using JavaScript and React, along with developing and maintaining enterprise web applications using Adobe Experience Manager Sites. The engineer will work with AEM components, templates, dialogs, content models, and integrations and collaborate with development and content teams to implement Adobe Experience Cloud solutions.Experience contributing to backend applications using technologies such as Node.js, Java, SQL, and NoSQL databases would also be valuable. Champions process (Scrum, TDD, etc.). Writes tech specs and identifies risks before starting major projects. Sets standards. Goes out of their way to reduce complexity. Walgreens has approximately 220,000 team members, including nearly 90,000 healthcare service providers, and is committed to being the first choice for pharmacy, retail and health services, building trusted relationships that create healthier futures for customers, patients, team members and communities.External Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or related fieldExperience writing code for moderate to complex online applications, microservices or mobile applications or deployment automationExperience with programming languages for online applications, microservices or mobile applications or deployment automationExperience designing/building moderately complex applicationsExperience writing automated test scriptsExperience creating coding/scripting solutions to fix complex problems/issuesExperience engaging and the executive levelAt least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.Hands-on development of enterprise web applications using Adobe Experience Manager Sites, including components, templates, dialogs, content models, and integrations.Knowledge of Adobe Experience Cloud solutions and the ability to troubleshoot AEM-related issues.Background working in an Agile environment.Strong web and backend development capabilities.Hands-on full-stack proficiency with Java, Node.js, SQL, NoSQL, React, and JavaScript.Prior responsibility for mentoring engineers, serving as a technical lead, or leading an engineering team.Commitment to high-quality engineering standards across documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, and CI/CD.Ability to guide teams in selecting enterprise integration patterns that support seamless connections with internal and external systems.Strong understanding of functional completeness, performance, security, and resilience across an end-to-end solution.Knowledge of implementation, security, capacity planning, and performance tuning for solutions deployed in Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, AWS, or Cloud Foundry.Test-driven development and test automation using cloud-based products such as App Center and Azure DevOps.Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.Knowledge of accessibility standards, application design patterns, and modular application development.Excellent debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills.We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.The Salary below is being provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities at Walgreens.
