Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee the daily accounting operations for a cannabis business operating in a regulated environment. This role requires strong QuickBooks expertise, experience managing high-volume transactions, and the ability to navigate cannabis-specific financial compliance (280E, cash controls, and inventory tracking). This is a working manager role, meaning you will be directly involved in the day-to-day accounting activities while also supporting financial oversight, compliance, and process improvements. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and largely cash-based environment. Key Responsibilities Hands-On Accounting Perform and oversee daily accounting operations: Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) General Ledger (GL) entries, journal entries, and reconciliations Manage high-volume transactions and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Execute month-end and year-end close Prepare financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Perform bank, cash, and account reconciliations Maintain detailed and audit-ready financial documentation Support ongoing bookkeeping functions as needed Leadership Provide oversight to bookkeeping/accounting support staff Collaborate with leadership on financial health and reporting Recommend improvements to scale accounting operations as the business grows Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred). 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in the cannabis, manufacturing, or retail industry Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements Experience with financial software e.g., QuickBooks Online preferred Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Experience working in a high-regulation industry is a plus Must pass background checks and comply with state cannabis regulations.
