Job Summary for RN - MedSurg/Tele (Albemarle, NC):

- 301 Yadkin St, Albemarle, NC, 28001; 109 licensed beds
- Not a trauma center or teaching hospital
- Advanced Primary Stroke Center
- MedSurg/Tele unit: 27 beds, average census 20

- Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum 18 months Med/Tele experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- First-time travelers considered, but not preferred


- Patient Care:
- Common diagnoses: Stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, GI bleed
- Patient ratios: RN/LPN 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 with surge), CNA 1:9


- Core Skills:
- General Med/Tele skills (stroke care/NIH assessments)
- Chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation
- NGT placement, drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP, flexiseals, foley)
- PCA pumps and medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids)


- Support Staff & Resources:
- CNA support (foley/IV removal with certification, ADLs, vitals)
- Day shift receptionist/HUC
- Charge nurse (may take assignment)
- 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalist coverage
- Telemetry monitoring/tech available
- No designated IV/VAT team


- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV pumps: Alaris
- Medication dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Philips


- Floating:
- Required to float within region and scope of practice as needed
- May float to multiple facilities within the Central Division (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
- Paid for travel time if floating mid-shift


- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts: 0700-1900 or 1900-0700
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- No call shifts
- Holiday requirement: work 75% of holidays
- RTO: up to 6 days off (excluding holidays); must meet contracted hours
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks

- Orientation: NEO + 2 days departmental
