About This Role

We are a small, non-profit center in Ashland, VA, dedicated to maintaining an optimal teacher-to-child ratio. Our classrooms are designed to provide individualized attention to each child, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing daily classroom activities.

To succeed in this role, you must be knowledgeable about children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, and be able to create a stimulating atmosphere that encourages children to learn and grow.

• Design and implement age-appropriate educational activities based on current research and standards.
• Lead by example, and mentor teaching team members to achieve collective success.
• Plan engaging group and individual activities that foster social, cognitive, and emotional growth in children.
• Regularly communicate with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Ensure adherence to all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain a healthy classroom environment, adhering to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
• Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure they follow planned activities, hygiene, and safety protocols.
• Accurately maintain records, forms, and files.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to continuously improve teaching practices.

• At least 2 years of professional experience in child care.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic computer proficiency.
• A high level of energy and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, and parents.
• Deep understanding of child development principles.
• Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must pass a thorough background check and meet health screening requirements.
• Associate's Degree in early childhood education or a related field with at least 30 credits in ECE.
• Ability to perform frequent walking, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
• Specific vision requirements include near vision, color perception, and depth perception.
• Superior leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Full Time employees receive up to two weeks paid time off annually.

  Free childcare is available to staff members' youngest child. 50% tuition reduction for additional children providing space is available.

  All training is paid at employees hourly salary.
