Senior Project Manager – Commercial Drywall

Location: Northwest Atlanta, Georgia
Position Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity

Solid Rock Recruiting is partnering with a well-established commercial drywall contractor seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for its Northwest Atlanta operation.

This leadership-level position is ideal for a proven drywall professional who can manage multiple projects or large, complex assignments from preconstruction through final closeout. The Senior Project Manager will oversee project teams, maintain strong client relationships, protect profitability, and ensure every project is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Experience managing mission-critical construction projects is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple commercial drywall projects or large, complex assignments.
• Estimate projects and establish budgets and contract pricing, including GMP and lump-sum contracts.
• Negotiate cost-effective subcontractor agreements and material purchases.
• Direct preconstruction activities and support the estimating team as a bid-item specialist.
• Prepare, negotiate, and issue subcontract bid packages.
• Establish project procedures to ensure timely buyout, shop drawing approval, procurement, and material delivery.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost controls, and reporting.
• Review contract requirements and ensure compliance with all terms and conditions.
• Build strong working relationships with owners, architects, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Partner with field leadership to develop and implement project-specific safety plans.
• Lead, train, and supervise project teams according to company policies and performance standards.
• Organize and conduct regular project meetings with management, field personnel, and subcontractors.
• Document significant project events, including delays, change orders, claims, and safety incidents.
• Maintain quality control and protect the integrity of the completed work.
• Identify and resolve potential conflicts before they become claims.
• Complete all project closeout procedures accurately and promptly.
• Deliver projects at the full projected fee or better.
• Support business development efforts and participate in project interviews and presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent commercial drywall experience.
• Eight to ten years of construction project management experience, preferably with a commercial drywall or metal framing contractor.
• Experience supervising project teams and managing large or technically complex projects.
• Mission-critical project experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-development ability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
• Strong computer and construction-management software skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
• Thorough understanding of scheduling, cost control, procurement, estimating, change-order management, and project closeout.
