Job Title: Vice President of Human Resources

Location: Southern California Preferred (Los Angeles / Orange County)

Additional Locations Considered: Phoenix, AZ | Dallas, TX | Houston, TX | Las Vegas, NV | Northern California

Compensation: Up to $350,000 Base, DOE + 40-50% Bonus

Work Type: Hybrid | Executive Travel Required

The Kostelic Agency is pleased to partner once again with a nationally recognized industry leader in the search for its next Vice President of Human Resources.

This is not a traditional HR leadership role.

Our client is seeking a highly commercial, business-minded executive who understands that people strategy and business strategy are inseparable. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership while helping shape organizational design, compensation strategy, workforce planning, talent management, leadership development, and overall business performance across a multi-state organization.

Scope & Impact

The Vice President of Human Resources will partner directly with executive leadership and influence virtually every aspect of the organization, including:

• Organizational design and workforce planning
• Executive coaching and leadership development
• Compensation and incentive strategy
• Performance management and accountability initiatives
• Talent acquisition and succession planning
• Employee engagement and retention
• Multi-state employment strategy and compliance
• Sales force effectiveness and organizational productivity

This individual will serve as a key business partner to leadership, helping drive performance while ensuring the organization continues to attract, develop, and retain top talent.

What You'll Tackle

Leadership has identified several key priorities for the incoming VP of HR:

• Evaluate and refine compensation and incentive programs
• Strengthen performance management and accountability across the organization
• Support workforce optimization and organizational effectiveness initiatives
• Partner with leadership on succession planning and talent development
• Drive alignment across a geographically dispersed workforce
• Help leaders maximize productivity, engagement, and retention

The Environment

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong executive presence, influence, and relationship-building skills.

The successful candidate must be comfortable:

• Partnering with multiple senior stakeholders
• Building consensus across varying leadership styles
• Balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on execution
• Operating effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location environment

This is not an environment where executives simply manage processes from a distance. Leadership values individuals who remain engaged in the business, build relationships throughout the organization, and maintain visibility across operations.

Ideal Background

The strongest candidates will likely possess:

• 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
• Experience supporting multi-state organizations
• Significant executive leadership exposure
• Experience partnering with large field-based workforces
• Strong compensation, organizational design, and workforce planning experience
• Proven ability to influence executive leadership teams
• Experience supporting sales-driven organizations

Industry experience within distribution, building products, construction-related industries, manufacturing, or other multi-site operating environments is highly desirable.

Experience with California employment law and other complex employment jurisdictions is strongly preferred.

Travel

This role requires regular travel throughout the organization's national footprint (~25%).

The successful candidate should enjoy spending time in the field, building relationships, understanding operations firsthand, and partnering directly with employees and leaders across the business.
