Overnight Line Cook (Full Time) - InterContinental Houston Hotel: IC - Houston (HOUIT), 6750 Main St, 77030 Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes. Control food usage to minimize waste.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required; minimize waste. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments, including Sales & Marketing, Catering, Banquets, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services. May occasionally interact directly with guests. Maintain a clean, neat, and well‑organized work area, including reach‑ins, walk‑ins, and counters. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor. Assist by performing ware washer or other duties as needed. Prepare and cook orders for daily operations. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and InterContinental requirements. Notify supervisor or duty manager about any unsafe equipment, low supplies, or safety incidents. Help create a safe space by following safety procedures and wearing necessary protective equipment. May assist with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Some food preparation experience or training preferred. Fluent in the local language. Ability to perform the following tasks: Carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand and move about the kitchen. Handle food, objects, products, and utensils. Use communication skills when interacting with other cooks, wait staff, and supervisors. Read and write when preparing meals from a recipe or monitoring inventory. Apply basic mathematical skills, including percentages, quantities, and variances. Possess alcohol‑awareness certification, food service permit, or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency. Work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

BENEFITS

The hourly pay rate for this role is $18.50 in Houston, Texas. Salary may be adjusted based on experience and performance. Other benefits include paid time off; medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); and a room discount.
