Full-time Registered Veterinary Technician – Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital Up to $1,500 sign‑on bonus for qualified full‑time candidates. PetVet Care Centers' Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. Position Overview Join our team as a Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include patient care, examinations, diagnostics, assisting during surgery, nursing care, feeding, maintaining supplies and equipment, triage, discharge, and record keeping. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, interviews, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory tests and imaging studies. Provide patient care: take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, dogs, and vaccines, bandage and wrap wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling necessary supplies and instruments, securing and transporting patients, restraining patients, and assisting as directed by the veterinarian. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Ensure patients are fed, watered, rooms and equipment are clean, and observe patients for clinical signs of disease. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing, wrapping, sanitizing, disinfecting areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, and complying with legal regulations. Maintain medical records by documenting patient conditions, reactions, changes, and updating the database accurately and timely. Communicate with pet owners about the status of the patient as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Maintain inventory, place orders for supplies, verify receipts. Participate in educational opportunities and read professional journals to update job knowledge. Release pets to owners as directed, ensuring they are clean and groomed. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Multiple years of practicing experience. Age 18 or older. Preferred Skills Experience with surgical assistance. Certified in emergency and critical care. Strong communication and client service skills. Schedule Monday – Friday. Open to reviewing different combinations of availability. Open to part‑time shifts.
