Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a Histotology Laboratory Supervisor to join our grossing team in San Diego, CA.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pmJob ResponsibilitiesManage the daily operations of assigned laboratory group to ensure that specimens are properly shipped and received, tests are performed accurately and efficiently, and results are reported in a timely mannerMonitor daily workflow in the lab, plan/ schedule for adequate assay coverage, and troubleshoot/ escalate problems, as necessaryDirectly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory testing staff.Assist with the hiring of qualified, enthusiastic employees, including technical and non-technical team membersMonitor time tracking system for employees and ensuring attendance expectations are being metEngage in continuous process and service improvementProvide technical troubleshooting and decision makingEnsure QC and maintenance of all laboratory equipmentEvaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations based on thorough evaluation of technical, quality and efficiency impactAssist with monitoring sample progression and respond to sample status inquiries from customer service as neededPerform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operationsEnsure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirementsStay abreast of industry trends, local trends, and any emergency managementMeet regularly with direct reports. Provide coaching and constructive feedback, and career development discussions. Write and deliver performance reviews and build a positive team environmentMinimum QualificationsAssociate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology3 years or more prior histology experience Preferred Qualification:1 year or more leadership experienceBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical TechnologyHistology and/or ASCP certificationsCurrent or prior Labcorp experienceAdditional Job StandardsStrong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office Strong communication skills; both written and verbal High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position Able to pass a standardized color blindness test At Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives. Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
