Job Title: Thermal/Environmental Coating Engineer Pay Rate: $57 /hr Location: East Hartford, CT Area Code: 860, 959 ZIP Code: 06118 Start Date: Right Away Keywords: #engineeringJobs #CoatingsEngineer #AerospaceJobs Responsibilities Work on projects ranging from engine safety, production stoppage, new/repair technology development, cost reduction, etc., to understand customer requirements and execute development programs to meet and exceed business needs. Collaborate with other internal engineering disciplines, engineering management and manufacturing customers as part of an Integrated Product Team to ensure the successful transition and implementation of technology into products. Bench‑mark coating/alloy technology and processes. Secure funding. Manage projects. Update engineering standard work. Education and Experience BS degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related technical field. 8 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in the development of advanced Thermal and Environmental Barrier Coating (TBC/EBC) chemistry and establishment of process/property relationships of advanced coating systems, or ability to attain such proficiency. Proficiency in application processes such as diffusion process, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), thermal spraying, slurry, and plating, as well as characterization methods (mechanical, physical & metallography) of these materials. Modeling experience strongly preferred. Skills and Knowledge Must be a US Citizen due to government programs requirements. Fundamental understanding of aerospace coating application methods and process optimization tools. Ability to build positive relationships. Strong communication skills. Team player. Highly motivated. Able to travel up to 10% of the time. Able to perform in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related technical field with 5 years of experience. Background in Thermal Barrier Coatings and Environmental Barrier Coatings, gas turbine engine alloys, and high pressure turbine design. Experience in testing and characterization of thin films or coatings. Fundamental understanding of effects of environmental contaminates such as dirt, sulfur and salt on performance of aerospace materials. Experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis methods. Fundamental understanding of material and process modeling. Experience with program planning, cost estimation and scheduling, and meeting contractual requirements during execution is preferred. Experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools is a plus.
