Job Description Divisional Overview The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firms credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firms counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firms success. The division is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail. Responsibilities Assess the credit and financial strength of the firm's Private Equity borrowers and counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis. Review and approve loan transactions and determine appetite and regulatory ratings Coordinate with Global Banking and Markets, Legal, Operations and Compliance departments to approve derivatives business and ensure appropriate documentation, limits, and risk mitigants to protect against a counterpart default and minimize potential losses Analyze the risks inherent in the products GS transacts, including lending and derivative products Perform sector analysis regularly to assess portfolio concentration or trends Monitor, manage and report exposures at a counterpart, product, and portfolio level Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree Excellent academic record Demonstrable track record of achievement and independent decision making Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Integrity, ethical standards and sound judgment 0-2 years of experience in a financial services role with preferable Fund, Hedge Fund, or Private Equity Fund experience Understanding of investment banking products including loan products and derivatives Skills Functional Expertise and Technical Skills – Ability to learn quickly Teamwork – Strong team player, works well under pressure, and collaborates with others across teams and business units Communication Skills – Communicates in a clear and concise manner, shares information/new ideas with peer group and team, and escalates as appropriate Judgment and Problem Solving – Thinks ahead, anticipates questions, plans for contingencies, finds alternative solutions, and identifies clear objectives.
